SPONSORED STUDENTS
KVTC’s sponsor policy aims to have an equal number of students’ girls and boys from six Kibosho wards. This sponsor policy is known and shared with the 6 Kibosho wards. In previous years KVTC received through KET Holland an average of 20.000 euro yearly which covered 35 to 40 students to receive sponsored education. From our sponsored students 3 students are funded since 2020 by Dorothy’s Coffee. KVTC does not believe in free education, it is therefore mandatory to bring in a minimum of 100,000 Tsh being a day scholar and 200,000 Tsh. being a boarding student. In this way we try to reach joint responsibility for sponsorship. The mandatory contribution is used for other related student expenses since school fees are not covering the complete costs. Who can be sponsored?
In general we can say that boys and girls from a difficult background can be sponsored. The groups identified are:
- Orphans/ half orphans
- Have-nots
- Special groups e.g. people with albinism, handicaps
- Street children
- Another group to think about are the ones who have a difficult background due to abuse, alcoholism, extreme poverty
- Lastly we need to consider students who are coming in as a paying student but find themselves later in trouble paying fees due to changed circumstances at home (death of a parent, losing business) and are in need to become a partly sponsored student
Procedure for applying
If you are eligible as per our sponsorship requirements, you can follow the following procedures to apply.
- Local ward officer or Church leader identifies 5 people equally divided boys and girls who will fit the mentioned profile/ group
- Local ward officer or Church leader fills KVTC application form to know the desired course, length, day, boarding together with the applicant and if possible the parent(s)/ caretakers
- The applying student has to write a letter why he/ she needs sponsoring explaining background and motivation, if possible supported by parent(s)/ caretakers who can vouch for the written document. In this letter should also be signed for the mandatory contribution
- Local ward officer or Church leader supports the above documents with a written statement and as a witness, signed, stamped and with his/ her contacts.
- Applicant brings the documents to KVTC accompanied by a parent(s), caretaker, other relative(s) Local ward officer or Church leader
- After reviewing the documents KVTC will give out a written agreement to finalize the procedure
Other rules and regulations to hold sponsorship are explained to the student. Each student is followed in school progress reports and at the end of every year continuation of sponsorship is decided based on an end year evaluation. On other website every 15th of the month 2 of our sponsored students will be introduced and information on school progress will be given.
